Our Church thrives because of the energy and style of the people who are a part of our leadership. Here are a few of the people that make our church community special:

Rev LynchIan Lynch - Pastor



Ian began his pastorate at Old South in August 2014. He moved here after thirty years in Massachusetts, where he most recently served First Congregational Church, UCC of Brimfield. He began his ministry serving homeless individuals at the Salem Mission in Salem, MA. He is committed to serving the wider church, having served on many denominational committees and briefly being employed by the Massachusetts Conference, UCC in the workd of Mission Development and Social Responsibility. His commitment to community service was in evidence as a member of the Brimfield Conservation Commission and in his appointment to the position of Fire Chaplain for the Brimfield Fire Department. He lives in Mentor with his wife, Gina, his daughter, Angel, and his mother-in-law, Pat. He is an avid birdwatcher, so only mention birds if you are ready for a lengthy, impassioned conversation.



LindseyLindsey Robison - Minister for Youth & Family Life



Lindsey grew up at Old South and has been here ever since. Having served on the Christian Education Ministry, she has been Minister for Youth and Family Life for the past five years. Lindsey is a lifeguard for the Cleveland Heights-University Heights High Schools physical education swim program and is director of Chincapin Camp, a summer day camp for girls, a part of Red Oak Camp in Kirtland. She holds a dual degree (elementary education and parish education from Thiel (PA) College. Lindsey and her husband, Chris, live in Mentor with their two young children, Lily and Zachary.

IrwinIrwin Shung - Organist

Irwin joined Old South in November 2011. He received his doctor of musical arts degree in piano performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music in January 2015, where he studied organ and harpsichord. Irwin holds dual degrees from the Peabody Institute (piano performance) and Johns Hopkins University (biology). He earned his master's of music degree in piano performance at CIM in 2010. In June 2012, Irwin married Qin Ying Tan, who regularly assists Irwin during services at Old South. 





Wayne Danko - Treasurer

A member of Old South for 14 years, it didn't take long for Wayne to fill a key role in church operations. He has served as Treasurer for the past 13 years of those years, saying that "my small role helps the sustainability of Old South Church." Wayne, who lives in Kirtland, holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Garfield Senior College, a former division of Lake Erie College in Painesville. An Ohio-certified CPA, Wayne serves as Accounting manager for a national engineering firm in downtown Cleveland. 



Betsy RempBetsy Remp - Handbell Choir Director

Betsy is a lifelong member of Old South. She was an active member of the youth group, traveling the country and participating in mission trips and national UCC conferences. At age 14, she was a member of the Council for Youth and Young Adult Ministries (CYYAM), and two years later was confirmed and became a member of Old South. In 2003, at age 17, Betsy became Handbell Choir Director. She studied music therapy at Ohio University and graduated first in her class with an associate's degree in carpentry from Hocking College. She lives in Mentor and loves cats.
